the perfect fit

I just found an article on The Early Show's website that recaps on segment from Tuesday's show. "Internet Jeans: Find Your Fit" has The Early Show's Debbye Turner visiting various online retailers, who are doing their best to help customers find the right pair of jeans without the need for a dressing room. She visits Levis.com, Leefit.com, Shopbop.com, and Mejeans.com and offers a recap on her experience. The article peaked my interest and I decided to search the web to see if any other sites offered a custom-fit experience. Here's what I found:
  • Tommy Hilfiger lets you pick the fit and fabric, label style, pocket design, leg opening, fly style, hardware style, and even the buttonhole thread color.
  • Land's End lets you choose your fabric, features, and fit. Custom jeans will be available again soon.
  • Googling the search term "custom jeans" brings up a ton of sites offering the opportunity to design your own jeans. I didn't take the time to thoroughly check them out, so shop at your own risk!

Of course if you don't want to go the custom route, you can always stick with Seven for All Mankind or Citizens, which are popular because they seem to fit most body types. But if you've never owned a pair I suggest buying them from a retailer who allows returns just in case you're the exception to the rule. Happy shopping!
